VPR Star Lala Kent Claims She’s Not Responsible For Randall’s LA Times Article

Vanderpump Rules star Lala Kent shut down speculation that she was responsible for the exposé of ex-fiance Randall Emmett. About a year ago, the Los Angeles Times published an article that revealed numerous allegations of racism and sexual misconduct by the disgraced producer. The article provided a basis for the Hulu documentary The Randall Scandal, which Lala participated in.

Lala opened up about the documentary and the article that inspired it while appearing in a recent episode of Scheana Shay’s Scheananigans podcast. Lala revealed that the article was in the works for several years, long before she broke off her engagement in October 2021 due to Randall’s infidelity.

“I was told his name started getting thrown around to them in 2017,” the 32-year-old revealed. “So for anyone to say that I did this…” she added while laughing. After breaking things off with the director, she explained, her DMs were flooded with various stories and allegations about her ex’s inappropriate workplace behavior. Once she began looking into these messages, she eventually discovered an article was in the works.

VPR’s Lala Confirms Randall’s Assistant Told Her About LA Times Article

“I started contacting assistants,” Lala continued, “anyone who would’ve seen Randall behind the scenes and who he really is,” as opposed to the person she thought he was during their relationship. One of the assistants got in touch with Lala to let her know that the LA Times article was already in the works. Then, a few days later, Lala was contacted by someone from the newspaper. That led to her participation in the article, where she alleged Randall tackled her to the ground to stop her from leaving him after his infidelity came out. The actress also claimed Randall was knowingly exploiting Bruce Willis.

When the LA Times article came out, Randall claimed it was a ploy by Lala to gain sole custody of their 2-year-old daughter Ocean. He made similar claims about his ex-wife Ambyr Childers, with whom he shares two older daughters. Ambyr filed for a restraining order while alleging that Randall was under FBI investigation for inappropriate materials. Though the two women feuded for years, Lala and Ambyr became supportive friends amid their respective custody battles with the producer. At the Vanderpump Rules season 10 reunion, Lala revealed she still shares custody with Randall but has not directly spoken to him since their split.

In earlier seasons, Lala was fiercely defensive of Randall and their relationship. Since it began when he was still married to Ambyr, Lala was dragged by her Vanderpump Rules co-stars for years. She has since expressed regret for being fooled by Randall’s double life and has opened up about the cracks in their relationship she covered up at the time. Lala has become a Vanderpump Rules season 10 fan-favorite, as she’s learned and grown from her mistakes and experiences. She has also frequently called out Vanderpump Rules villain Tom Sandoval, even comparing him to Randall.

Vanderpump Rules season 10 airs Wednesdays at 9 p.m. EDT on Bravo.
