‘The Blind Side’ family has spent lavishly on private jets, pricey trips

“The Blind Side” family who “adopted” Michael Oher not only allegedly cut the ex-NFLer out of the multimillion-dollar paycheck they got from the blockbuster film — but also lavishly spent the cash on private jets and pricey vacations while brazenly documenting the splurges on social media.

Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy, both 63, put their expensive trips on display on Instagram, where they’ve been photographed multiple times in front of a Cessna Citation Bravo private jet.

According to air craft charter company Desert Jet, a trip on the seven-seat jet runs travelers about $3,100 per hour.

If the Tuohys purchased the plane, they could have spent upwards of $2 million depending on the model year.

In other social media posts, Sean and Leigh Anne are seen enjoying a getaway at Park City, Utah.

Leigh Anne tagged the photo’s location as the St. Regis Deer Valley, a luxury ski resort where nightly rates average more than $1,000.

More posts show her in other faraway places, like in Paris next to the Eiffel Tower, posing alongside Italy’s Leaning Tower of Pisa, and with Sean in the Middle East.

Just a few weeks ago, Leigh Anne filmed herself and a large group of friends getting off a party bus to see the “Barbie” movie, and in June, she captured Sean spending the afternoon zipping around in a red Ferrari.

Elsewhere, Leigh Anne also appears to frequent Disney World, with a slew of photos in front of Cinderella’s castle in Magic Kingdom from what appears to be at least four visits to the theme park in the last two years.

The Tuohys — who’s reportedly now worth a combined $75 million — live in Memphis, Tenn., where, according to Memphis Business Journal, they own a total of five different properties in the Shelby County area.

Oher reportedly lives with his family in Brentwood, Tenn., and doesn’t appear to have a relationship with the Tuohys.

The former star offensive tackle does not have any photos of the Tuohys on his Instagram, and does not follow any of his former “family” members either.

Leigh Anne was portrayed by Sandra Bullock in the 2009 blockbuster film, which told Oher's life story as a homeless black teen being adopted by a well-off white family and becoming an NFL star.

"The Blind Side" went on to gross $309 million, and was beloved by fans for its take on a real-life story. However, Oher has since claimed that he was never actually adopted by the Tuohys, but instead signed a conservatorship.

Much of the Tuohys’ wealth is from the success of “The Blind Side” thanks to a deal Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy struck with the film’s producers.

According to bombshell court documents filed on Monday, the Tuohys and their two biological children received royalties from the film to the tune of $225,000 each, plus 2.5% of the movie’s net proceeds, while Oher allegedly received zero.

The blockbuster film was released in 2009, with Sandra Bullock starring as Leigh Anne in a film centered around Oher’s life story as a homeless black teen being adopted by a well-off white family and becoming an NFL star.

The recent legal filing also revealed that Sean and Leigh Anne never actually adopted Oher, 37, instead having him sign a conservatorship that allowed the Tuohys to legally conduct business in Oher’s name.

Oher, meanwhile, uses his Instagram to promote his business ventures, including his latest book, “When Your Back’s Against the Wall,” which details his experience emerging from poverty to getting married and having four children.

“The Blind Side” went on to gross $309 million, and Bullock won the Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance as fans gushed over the touching movie, which was supposedly based on a true story.

Armed with a fat share of the proceeds, Sean, Leigh Anne and their daughter Collins are soaking up the sun around Alys Beach, an exclusive enclave on the Florida panhandle that only allows residents, renters and their guests to access the beach club and waterfront.

Though it’s unclear if the Tuohys rent or own a home in the area, Alys’ website shows homes over $6 million for sale, and rentals with nightly rates exceeding $500.

And another snap pictures Sean with his arm around his son, SJ, at Bay Hill Golf Club in Orlando, a pricey enclave where membership initiation fees are reportedly in the $30,000 range, not to mention annual dues that run around $8,000.

Despite the recent splurges, the couple appeared to live a cushy lifestyle even before the film’s debut.

In the early 2000s, the Tuohys purchased over 100 different fast-food franchise locations, including 115 Taco Bell and KFC shops and seven Freddy’s Frozen Custard shops through their restaurants company RGT Management, according to the Franchise Times.

The couple — worth a combined $75 million — frequent Disney World. According to Leigh Anne’s Instagram, they’ve visited the theme park at least four times in the last two years.

The Tuohys were reportedly successful before "The Blind Side." Sean worked as a commentator for the NBA's Memphis Grizzlies, and Leigh Anne has made a career out of being an interior designer.

The couple also owned the real estate underlying 64 of those restaurants, the Times reported, though they sold all but 11 Taco Bells — all located in Florida — when they dissolved RGT Management back in 2019 through six separate transactions that earned the Tuohys $213 million.

Before “The Blind Side,” Sean became a commentator for the NBA’s Memphis Grizzlies in 2001, where he’s worked ever since, while Leigh Anne has made a career out of being an interior designer.

In the wake of the film’s success, Leigh Anne and Sean co-wrote the novel In a Heartbeat: Sharing the Power of Cheerful Giving, which went on to become a New York Times bestseller, and Leigh Anne served as a design team leader on ABC’s “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.”

The Post has sought comment from the Tuohys via Leigh Anne’s personal website and the family’s foundation, Making it Happen, which helps youth develop skills to work in the entertainment industry.
