Below Deck Mediterranean star Jessika Asai may not have been a fan favorite throughout Below Deck Med season 8, but her time on the series may be coming to an end after her cryptic goodbye message. Jessika was a Stew throughout the season, and while her work ethic wasn’t often called into question, it was clear that her time on the Mustique was more difficult than some of the other yachties. Jessika’s relationship with Luka Brunton was featured later in the season, in a way that some Below Deck Med viewers found grating to the point that they were critical of her behavior at the season’s end.
According to a post bidding farewell to the season, Jessika shared that she’s happy to be “closing the chapter on the most dramatic season of my life!..I’ve experienced more drama than I ever thought possible, and I’m relieved that I don’t have to relive it anymore.”
She went on to explain that viewers, “may or may not have witnessed, the season finale was nothing short of insane” and that she’s “human, still learning, and committed to growing from it all.” Jessika isn’t proud of everything she’s done on Below Deck Med, but is happy to be moving forward.
Jessika Hints She’s Done With Below Deck Med
While Jessika shared her long post about Below Deck Mediterranean season 8’s impact on her life, she left the door open for future appearances while making it seem like she may not be interested in returning to the show in the future. Though there’s no formal confirmation that Jessika will be leaving Below Deck, she did reply to a comment from Captain Sandy Yawn that read, “So proud of you! Loved having you on board.” Jessika replied, “thank you Captain, you are such an inspiring woman! Hope we can cross paths again soon.” The comment may not be indicative of Jessika’s departure, but it’s likely she’s not planning to return.
Though Jessika enjoyed her time aboard the Mustique, her time on the super yacht wasn’t the healthiest for her. Jessika’s relationships on the ship weren’t conducive to her being able to be productive in her job, and her attempts to engage with Luka weren’t good for her mental health. Making it clear that her priority is to grow and change in the coming year, it seems like Jessika may be taking an indefinite break from Below Deck Mediterranean, as well as the rest of the franchise.
While Jessika was entertaining for some of Below Deck Med season 8, her time on the series became too much for her to handle. Taking responsibility for her actions is a great first step, and taking some time for her to recalibrate and decide on what’s next in her life could be a great choice for her. Though some may miss the drama Jessika brought to Below Deck Mediterranean, others will be happy to see her time some time away.
