Meadow Walker Comments on Honoring Father Paul Walker With Fast X Cameo

Fast X will be bringing in many special guests for cameo appearances, and among them is Meadow Walker, the daughter of late actor Paul Walker. On social media, the younger Walker revealed that she has a cameo in the film, sharing an image that provides a sneak peek at the appearance. She wrote on the post about how she grew up with the Fast and Furious family and how honored she felt about being able to pay tribute to her father with the guest role.

Speaking with Entertainment Tonight, Meadow addressed her spot in Fast X. She commented on how she’d been waiting for the right opportunity to honor her dad with the Fast and Furious family, as that franchise was such a big part of both of their lives, given how much he’d take young Meadow to the set. She says that the small cameo was perfect as her father was very humble, and he would appreciate how the cameo was handled. As Meadow explains:

“For me, I’ve always thought about honoring my dad, and this was such a big part of his life, and my life, of course. I was just waiting for the right moment, and I wanted to do something super small and simple that was almost like an Easter egg. If you didn’t know who I was, you wouldn’t even notice it… My dad was very humble, very simple, so I thought the best way is to have a special little moment… I left my little mark, and I can always share that with him.”

Meadow Walker Interacts With John Cena

Universal Pictures

Meadow Walker’s cameo involved interacting with John Cena, who joined the franchise in F9. She described what it was like to work with Cena, describing both him and director Louis Leterrier as being very patient with her, despite her nerves causing some problems when they were trying to film the scene. As Walker explains:

“Louis, the director, had gave me some comment of “seeing an actress being born here today,” and all these things. I was like, I don’t know if I did that well, but I was honestly very grateful to be in the scene with John, because he was so patient and so kind, and obviously I was extremely nervous. I didn’t have to take any [acting] classes, or any prep. I was just like, ‘Okay, let’s do this.’ I was shaking, and part of the scene was I had to hold things, and they were just falling all over the floor, and he was like, ‘Can somebody get some superglue?’ And he kept reassuring me, like, ‘Don’t worry, we have all day.’ Because I was like, ‘Oh, I feel so bad, I’m messing everything up!’ And Louis the director was the same, they were both just like, ‘We have all the time that you need.'”

Fast X will be rolling into theaters on May 19, 2023.
