Invincible season 2, episode 5 features several shocking character deaths, leaving many viewers wondering if these characters are really dead at the end of the episode. Invincible is a show full of different superheroes and supervillains, and while the series is no stranger to violence and deaths, killing off main characters has been rarely seen throughout the first two seasons so far. However, Invincible season 2 just featured some of the series’ biggest deaths yet, with the comic books revealing the true fates of these superheroes after their tragic Invincible ends.

Invincible season 2, part 2 is finally here, with the last four episodes in Amazon Prime Video’s continuation of the highly anticipated animated superhero show now releasing on the streaming service. Invincible season 2 is continuing to adapt the next story in the Invincible comics, with season 2, part 2 kicking off with Mark still on Thraxa after the Invincible season 2, part 1 finale. In episode 5, Mark and the more powerful Guardians are dealing with the sequids, leaving some of the less powerful team members on Earth to hold down the fort – a plan that goes horribly wrong.

Shrinking Rae Should Be Dead, According To The Invincible Comics

Invincible season 2, episode 5 sees Guardians of the Globe membersRex Splode, Dupli-Kate, and Shrinking Rae head off to a nuclear facility in order to take on the Lizard League, leading to the deaths of Dupli-Kate and Shrinking Rae. However, the villain’s skin is too tough, with Rae being unable to break through and dying while inside the villain.

Invincible Season 2 Is Still Missing A Major Superhero Team From The Comics (That’s Perfect For A Spinoff)

Amazon Prime Video’s Invincible has already introduced all kinds of superhero teams, but it is still missing one of the most important ones.

Although many of Invincible‘s seemingly dead superheroes come back, Shrinking Rae doesn’t return in the comics, meaning that season 2, episode 5’s ending appears to feature the superhero’s tragic death. The Invincible show gave Shrinking Rae a lot more screentime, making her presumed death even more impactful if it sticks. Rae got more lines and character development, even though she was still a side character. Shrinking Rae could potentially still return, since the audience never sees what actually happens to her inside Komodo Dragon’s body, but this would represent a huge change from the Invincible comics.

The Invincible Comics Reveal Dupli-Kate Is Still Alive

The other major death in Invincible season 2, episode 5 is Dupli-Kate, with the Lizard League massacring her clones before killing the final Kate. While plenty of Dupli-Kate clones have been killed up until this point, it has been established that killing every copy of Kate would end her life, with her unable to return. This seemingly happens in Invincible season 2, episode 5, with Rex Splode believing that she has died. However, the Invincible comics reveal that this isn’t the case, with Dupli-Kate still being alive.

After Dupli-Kate’s death, the superhero’s villainous brother Multi-Paul appears, attempting to avenge his sister’s death. This causes Dupli-Kate to return, to the surprise of everyone. Kate reveals that she has always kept a copy of herself in a safe house far away in a secret location in case the rest of her clones were to die, with this contingency plan allowing her to secretly be alive. Kate had planned to take a break after her death, allowing her to lead a normal life, but Paul’s reign of terror forced her to return and reveal her continued existence.

10 Invincible Characters Steven Yeun Could Play In The Live-Action Movie

Steven Yeun voices Mark Grayson in Amazon Prime Video’s Invincible animated show, and here’s who he can play in the live-action Invincible movie.

Will Rex Splode Die In Invincible Season 2?

Although he does lose his hand, Rex Splode is the only superhero who makes it out of the confrontation with the Lizard League alive, but some viewers are wondering if the character will die later in Invincible season 2. Although his death isn’t related to the Lizard League, Rex Splode does end up dying in Invincible, during the Invincible War storyline. In it, Rex Splode charges himself up in an attempt to kill a multiversal Invincible variant, and while this plan is successful, it ends in his own demise.

It seems unlikely that Amazon Prime Video’s Invincible will be able to fit the Invincible War storyline in, meaning that Rex will probably live throughout the rest of the season. With only three episodes left, cramming in Angstrom Levy’s death, return, and the Invincible War would feel like a lot, with it being better to hold off on the exciting arc until season 3. This would allow Mark’s first confrontation with Angstrom Levy to have more room to breathe, while also allowing Rex to continue to breathe throughout the rest of Invincible season 2.
